Experience Summary

  • Began programming computers in 1982.
  • Bachelors (1989) and Masters (1992) degrees in Computer Science.
  • Have worked with and programmed under Unix and Microsoft operating systems (DOS and Windows) since 1985.
  • Have worked continuously with both BSD and Linux since their appearance in the early 1990s.
  • Have worked continuously with Mac OS X since it's appearance in the early 2000s.
  • Published a successful textbook on C/C++ programming
  • Nine years of University teaching experience.
  • Professional systems manager and programmer since 1999:
    • As a contractor with Manpower International, managed servers for more than 100 remote offices around the US and Canada.
    • Managed a network of more than 70 computers consisting of Windows, SGI IRIX, Linux, FreeBSD, and Mac OS X for a scientific research facility. Systems included large RAID servers, WEB servers, and workstations. Also programmed in C, C++, Unix shell languages, Perl, and several other languages.
    • Current clients include a K-8 school with more than 100 Mac and Windows installations, including two Xserves.
